I THINK I may be a descendant of Henry Morgan, one of the "Lost Tribes". My ggg-grandfather was Henry Preston Morgan (born in Pickens, SC & died in Attala, MS). I have much info on the lineage of Henry Preston to the present, but haven't been able to find "proof" of his line...some say he's in the line of Joseph, Henry & Morgan Morgan. Some say he's in the line of Joseph Bedinger, Abraham, William & Richard Morgan. If you have any info, I would appreciate it!!! With the roadblocks I've run into, it seems like he's most likely from the "lost tribe" that migrated from SC, to GA, then to MS...he did seem to come to MS with much heritage! My mother did geneology research in the late 1970's and 80's during a yearly visit to the Morman church archives in SaltLake City. She would sit in a small room reading records on microfilm for hours. I wish she could have lived to see the internet and access all the information out in cyberspace. I've taken up her quest now. I'm connected to the Morgan family through my great Grandmother Nancy Morgan b.1872.

I am told that my grandfather JESSE MORGAN is a descendent of the Morgans that Morgantown, West Virginia is named after. Also my great grandfather Winfield Scott Morgan gets a bit closer. They may have been English and other great qualities BUT they were also known as brawlers and fighters. Today, it seems not much different. My Grandma had 15 children and at one time we had 6 generations living. We are either CHRISTIANS full and hole hearted OR brawlers and fighters. Genetics certainly has stayed in tact. Thanks so much for this site. Our part of the Morgans married with the Barkers of Monongalia County and with Shelby Pindall Barker came out to Idaho and then Oregon in the early 1900's. Having all of the Zacquills and Zackwills and the all-too-confusing "Morgan ap Morgans" and "Morgan Morgan" confusion in our chart has just now been leading us to the right direction and some clarity, which in part is thanks to your site! We found letters that grandma copied from William L Morgan, while on duty in the Cival War. Her name is Beulah Kendrick Davis, they dated around 1864, Beulahs' sisters name is Louisa Caroline Davis. I believe her moms name was Myrtle Davis. We also have the copy of certificate for The Daughters of the American Revolution, for Sara Morgan Watts, and Eva Mrytle Morgan Watts, Mrs Lily Sarah Morgan Davis. Cool huh

This is a wonderful website. I am interested in Frederick and Berkeley Co. history as many of my ancestors were there in the 1700's. Does anyone know about the Mary GOSSETT who married a MORGAN. She might have been born about 1740's. My interest is the Gossett line. My ancestor was Mathias GOSSETT about the age of Mary.
